The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a new Manufacturer Portal to simplify and improve the Early Warning Reporting data submission process for manufacturers.

The portal serves as the central site for manufacturers to submit aggregate data required by law, including the reporting of possible safety-related defects, product noncompliance, safety recalls, and other safety campaigns conducted outside of the United States.

This initiative is part of NHTSA’s ongoing effort to streamline and modernize the IT systems supporting the Office of Enforcement.

The new portal now allows manufacturers to:

  1. Upload files directly to NHTSA via a secure web portal, thereby eliminating the need for paper, email, disk and secure file transfer;
  2. View historical submissions from the dashboard;
  3. View the status of submissions (accepted, rejected, or in process); and
  4. Respond directly to inquiries, including uploading attachments through the portal.
