The most EV-friendly cities in the U.S.
A new study by FINN, a car subscription provider, looked at U.S. states to determine how many charging stations are available per 100,000 visitors and which states were the friendliest when it came to EV accommodation.
San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; Denver, Colorado:
Tied for last place, these three cities all boast only four charging ports for every 100,000 visitors and only about 800-970 charging stations in a 25-mile radius.
Washington, D.C.:
Washington beat San Diego, Seattle, and Denver by two more charging stations per 100,000 visitors, putting them a step above last with six charging stations in total. In a 25-mile radius, 1,292 charging stations can be found here.
Los Angeles, California and Boston, Massachusetts:
Both Los Angeles and Boston have seven charging stations per 100,000 visitors. While they share the same ranking when it comes to charging stations, Los Angeles takes the lead for charging stations in a 25-mile radius with 3,420 against Boston's 1,433.
Honolulu, Hawaii and San Francisco, California:
Two cities take the third spot with 8 charging stations per 100,000 visitors. For Honolulu, there is a high proportion of chargers as parking lots with over 100 spaces and all new buildings are required to be equipped with EV chargers.
San Jose, California:
This California city is at the heart of Silicon Valley, filled with tech industry workers. In San Jose, there are 10 public charging stations per 100,000 visitors and the city has launched a pilot scheme to eliminate "charging deserts" in the area.
Anaheim, California:
At number one, with 12 charging stations per 100,000 visitors, is Anaheim, California. Anaheim is home to both Disneyland and the largest convention center on the west coast making it a tourist-heavy city.
