Some customers may see a “Service 4WD” light in the Cabin Compartment Node (CCN). Upon further investigation, the technician may find that C2201 – FDCM/DTCM internal diagnostic trouble code is set in the DTCM. When the system detects this, it shuts down the 4WD capability for the remainder of the drive cycle.
This condition is not monitored when operating in 2WD mode. Updating the DTCM software will correct the condition.
Using a scan tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECTm verify that no DTCs are set. If DTCs are present other than the one listed here, record them and repair as necessary before proceeding further.
Connect wiTECH to the vehicle.
Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
Select DTCM.
Select Data tab.
Scroll down to “DTCM Internal DTC Reason.”
Does DTCM Internal Reason read “Task Failure?”
If yes, proceed to Step 7.
If no, refer to the appropriate diagnostic procedure available in Dealer/CONNECT/TechCONNECT group 28 – DTC-Based Diagnostics/Module, Drivetrain Control (DTCM)/Diagnosis and Testing – C2201 – FDCM/DTCM Internal.
NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure that battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
Reprogram the DTCM with the latest software. Help using the wiTECH diagnostic application for flashing an ECU is available by selecting “help” then “help contents” at the top of the wiTECH diagnostic application window.
After DTCM reprogramming, clear any DTCs that may have been set in other modules. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow clearing.
Type the necessary information on the authorized modification label and attach it near the VECI label.
