AAPEX 2012 Seminar Report: California shop owner sees telematics as beneficial to aftermarket

Nov. 13, 2012
Telematics seminar speakers cited challenges and opportunities to aftermarket.

Anthony Cacares, owner of Anthony's Smog and Repair Station in Alhambra, Calif., thinks telematics will ultimately benefit the aftermarket industry after attending a telematics session at the AAPEX 2012 show in Las Vegas.

Interviewed by Elliot Maras, editor of Professional Tool & Equipment News, Cacares said he attended the seminar because he realizes telematics is an emerging technology in auto manufacturing. Telematics enables sending, receiving and storing information via telecommunication devices in conjunction with affecting control on remote objects. Cacares echoed the seminar speakers in noting that in the short-term, telematcis pose a challenge to the aftermarket but in the long-term, it can be helpful.
