Milwaukee Tool introduces M18 RedLithium XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack

Oct. 10, 2014
Upgrading to the new battery pack is designed to increase the run-time and durability of user’s current M18 cordless tools.

With the introduction of the new M18 RedLithium, XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack, Milwaukee will deliver up to 2.5 times more run-time, 20 percent more power and two times more life than standard lithium-ion batteries.

“It is not enough to increase amp hours and put a higher number on the side of the pack,” says Paul Fry, VP of product marketing for Milwaukee Tool. “While amp hours is one piece of the equation, this battery is a ground up redesign that delivers the best combination of cell selection, pack construction, and electronics to deliver maximum performance, durability and run-time. As we continue to push the limits and bridge the gap between cordless and corded tools with game-changing new products, we will also continue to advance our battery pack development to keep up with the increased demands of the tools.”

Upgrading to the new battery pack is designed to increase the run-time and durability of user’s current M18 cordless tools.

Featuring a Milwaukee-exclusive design, the pack is protected against harsh jobsite environments. This protection routes water away from the electronics and out of the battery pack, extends run-time and life by minimizing heat, and prevents pack failures from vibration or drops. This advanced design also allows the battery to operate in extreme cold weather conditions (below OoF/-18oC).

Managed by Milwaukee’s exclusive REDLINK Intelligence, the battery also features overload protection to prevent users from damaging their cordless power tools in heavy duty situations, while the discharge protection prevents cell damage.

The new M18 RedLithium XC5.0 Battery will be sold as an accessory to the M18 System, and will have full system compatibility with all 60+ M18 cordless solutions.
