Ask the Expert: What permanent solutions are there for addressing corrosion?

Sept. 13, 2016
For more than 100 years, we’ve ineffectively used barrier coatings to try and fight against corrosion.

Q: What permanent solutions are there for addressing corrosion?

A: I think people, traditionally, whether in transportation or any other industry, don’t think of coating as a high-tech product. For more than 100 years, we’ve ineffectively used barrier coatings to try and fight against corrosion. EonCoat is different. It takes an extremely advanced technology and allows you to  alloy steel, so that the steel is no longer going to corrode again. That’s a huge step forward. A barrier coating is something that is going to last for a time. Then, by definition, it’s going to fail. It’s a tarp. You are just putting it over something to prevent corrosion for a limited time period. But from the day it is applied, you know by definition a barrier coating will fail. So folks in the transportation industry, like with all industries, are looking for something that’s a permanent solution. The only permanent solution, in the United States and abroad, is EonCoat.
