SKF offers tips on servicing Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon hub bearings and ABS sensors
SKF offers two hub bearings and six ABS sensor cords (with integral cap) to service all 2004 – 2008 Chevrolet Colorado & GMC Canyon models. This is exactly the same offering that Chevrolet & GMC dealers have to service these applications. This range allows distributors to service all applications with a much smaller investment versus stocking eight different hub bearings with ABS sensor cords attached.

For these applications, SKF recommends using a new sensor whenever a new hub bearing is being replaced in order to ensure the proper operation of the ABS system. This method also eliminates the need to remove the old sensor from the used hub bearing, which could potentially be damaged during the removal process.
ABS sensor cord replacement instructions
When reusing the existing hub assembly, care should be taken when removing the old sensor cord for replacement. When installing a new sensor cord on a new hub assembly, make sure the wiring is aligned to the same position as on the old assembly. You can place the hubs side by side and install the ABS sensor cord and cap in the same position. Follow the proper removal and installation instructions below to assure correct functionality of the new ABS sensor cord.
Removal
1. Mark the location of the sensor cord wiring coming off of the back side of the ABS cap. The sensor cord wiring will be positioned in between the narrow side of the four bolt-mounting flange. See Figure 1.
1. To remove the old cap, place a flat pry tool in between the cap and the base of the hub pilot. Work around the cap and gently pry up until fully removed. The cap is held in place with a light press fit onto the hub pilot. Do not pry on the wiring, side holes of the cap or the top of cap. This can damage the hub sensor ring built into the back of the hub assembly. See Figure 2.
Installation
1. Align the new sensor cord wiring to the marked position on the hub assembly. Gently push the cap onto the back side of hub pilot to start the installation.
2. Use a flat installation tool to press the cap in place. Gently tap on the back side of the cap with the tool until the cap is seated against the lip of the hub assembly. Do not press against sensor or the sensor wiring. It is important to make sure the cap is fully seated in order for the cap to maintain the correct air gap. See Figure 3.
Note: It is mandatory to use either an SKF sensor cord or the OE sensor cord for proper functioning of the ABS system. Use of a non-SKF or non-OE sensor cord on an SKF BR930702 or BR930703 will void the SKF Warranty.
