The Weego 66.2 Jump Starting Power Pack offers a 10 percent increase of true cranking amps compared to the company’s previous version, to reach 660A. This jump starter weighs 2.5 lbs and delivers a high-powered jump starting charge that works on trucks, tractors, cars, boats and light duty equipment. The review
A powerful jump starter is an asset to any shop, but one that doubles as a personal electronics power pack offers added value. Reviewer Eric Moore of Griffin Pavement Striping appreciated the utility of this product.
“It held quite a bit of power in reserve,” Moore says. “It definitely kept up with demand and kept us from having to chase an outlet each time [our personal devices] needed to be charged.”
Moore notes that this unit was easy to use, both as a personal device charger and as a jump starter. When using as a personal power supply, simply plug in the device and turn the unit on. When using as a portable jump starter, select the battery clamps accessory, plug it into the Weego 66.2 and attach to the vehicle battery. The product senses the level of charge in the battery before the relay engages. If the vehicle battery is in the jump starting range, the green light will flash and the relay will close, sending a pre-conditioning voltage to the vehicle battery. A full cranking amp charge will be sent once the starter is engaged by turning the ignition.
Moore used this product to boost several vehicles, including a 2002 Mazda Protégé, 2010 Ford F150 with a 6.2L engine and a 2013 Isuzu NQR with a 5.2L diesel engine.
“The Weego 66.2 didn’t struggle with any single task,” Moore says. “It is built really compact for the amperage it supplies. The charge indicator lights are bright and clear to see the level of charge, so there’s no guessing, and the built-in flashlight seemed bright enough to use in just about any circumstance if needed.”
He noted the rugged durability of this product as well.
“It took more than a few tumbles with no damage,” Moore says. “My nieces were using it over the holiday to keep their devices charged while watching YouTube. That let me see just how tough it really was.”
Moore has used a variety of portable power packs and jump starters in the past, and notes that the Weego 66.2 is more compact than most.
“The smart feature on the Weego was nice because you wouldn’t be able to leave it ‘hot’ and accidentally cross the leads up to produce a spark,” Moore says.
