California insurers will face more stringent rules intended to combat the steering of policyholders toward less expensive auto body shops due to inaccurate or misleading statements, as well as inconveniences, under new regulations approved for 2017.
While the regulations become law on Jan. 1, California insurers will have until March 12, 2017 to comply.
The law will support and help strengthen existing steering laws on the books, and they serve to compel insurers from ignoring them.
