ADVICS, the leader in advanced braking technology, will participate in the 2019 Brake Weekend meeting hosted by the Brake Manufacturers Council (BMC) and the Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) in Naples, Fla. Greg Ladley, ADVICS manager of friction engineering, is participating in the ‘Impact of Regenerative Autonomous Brake Systems’ panel on June 2.
Ladley will address attendees about potential changes to foundation brakes and friction design philosophy for regenerative braking systems. Ladley is secretary of the SAE Brake Dyno Testing Standards Committee, which is currently discussing what tests will need to be added or modified to validate brakes when used in combination with regenerative systems. Ladley will be joined on the panel by Tim Duncan, executive vice president of business development and global test operations with Link Engineering, and Dan Berletchick, director of engineering at RAYLOC. “Autonomous and regenerative braking systems are making a huge impact on our industry, and we need to develop a baseline of what the industry should and shouldn’t be doing from a design and safety perspective,” said Ladley. “I’m looking forward to participating in the BMC/FMSI panel discussion to engage industry leaders in this critical conversation about new brake technology.” The Brake Weekend meeting will bring together leaders in the brake community to share perspectives on the current state of the industry, as well as the industry’s future.
