Showcasing innovation, OTC has introduced the automotive industry’s first Flare Nut Locking Pliers, P/N 6720, solving the problem of rounded nuts on brake lines and other fluid lines. The pliers’ head encompasses flare nuts to prevent the rounding off that happens using open-ended wrenches or other pliers.

“Over time, brake line nuts can become rusted or stripped, making it difficult and time-consuming to remove and service,” said Rob Kochie, OTC Product Manager. “Our pliers surround the nut to prevent stripping and rounding of the head to easily remove brake lines for vehicle service.”

A slight bend in the jaws allows space when working against vehicle frame and bulkheads and an adjustable thumbscrew provides a strong bite to loosen difficult nuts.

Typically a technician will use a variety of wrenches and pliers to remove brake line nuts, constantly searching for a solution. The Flare Nut Locking Pliers are available in four adjustable sizes, providing the ability to service nuts from 1/4” (6mm) to 7/8” (22mm) to service a wide range of vehicles and systems including brake, AC and power steering lines.

OTC’s Flare Nut Locking Pliers are available individually or as a three-piece set:

-        6720, set of three to service flare nuts from 1/4” to 5/8” (6 mm to 16mm)

-        6720-1, covers ¼” to 5/16” (6mm to 8mm)

-        6720-2, covers 3/8” to 7/16” (9mm to 11mm)

-        6720-3, covers ½” to 5/8” (12mm to 16mm

-        6720-4, covers 11/16” to 7/8” (17mm to 22mm) for AC and power steering lines
