Due to the potential of the headlight housings causing excessive glare, over 740,000 2010-2017 GMC Terrains are under recall. The potential excessive glare comes from reflection caused by the headlights illuminating spaces above the vehicle and outside the driver's view with extremely bright light. In turn, this could increase the risk of crashing, as the glare may reduce visibility for other drivers.
The recall shouldn't be surprising as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2017 Terrain a poor rating for its headlights, noting specifically that the low beams "created excessive glare."
Owners of these vehicles will be notified on April, and a fix is currently in the works.
