Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket has a new VDO blind spot detection sensor as a direct OE replacement for blind spot zone collision warning systems on 2011-2015 Lexus and Toyota models.
Continental is the original equipment (OE) manufacturer for blind spot detection sensors and first-to-market with this short-range 24Ghz radar sensor for aftermarket applications.
Branded VDO, these blind spot detection sensors are the same high quality parts as supplied to vehicle manufacturers worldwide. They deliver exact fit and function for trouble-free, labor saving installation, according to the company.
Blind spot detection systems warn the driver of potential collisions with other vehicles in the blind spot zone. They are especially beneficial for lane change maneuvers in heavy traffic, on multi-lane highways and in city travel.
The company says the system helps the driver avoid accident-prone situations by making lane changes and overtaking safer and alerting the presence of rear cross traffic. They also help to significantly reduce driver workload, which helps create a more relaxed drive.
VDO Article Manager Dave Maclay says blind spot detection sensor replacements were previously ‘dealer only’ items and that Continental is now making the VDO blind spot detection sensor available to independent shops and service technicians at attractive pricing.
VDO is a trademark of the Continental Corp.
