Alex St. John of Bradenton Beach, Florida!

Alex participated in our monthly ASE Question of the Month and entered his information to be included in the random prize drawing, sponsored by Federated Auto Parts! Did you try our May question?

Which of the following statements is NOT true regarding R1234yf?

A. System pressures are similar to R134a

B. R134a can be used in place of R1234yf to save the customer money

C. You must be EPA Section 609 certified to purchase R1234yf in containers larger than 2 pounds

D. R1234yf is classified as “mildly flammable”

“B” is the correct answer! And an important one, too. Though R134a would work in an R1234yf system, it is illegal to do so.
