Company expects driverless cars by 2020.

Demonstrating its dedication to accident-free driving, Bosch is sponsoring the Driverless Car Experience at the 2014 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the global gathering place for consumer technologies, to be held Jan. 7 to 10, 2014, in Las Vegas.

“Bosch is proud to contribute to the future of safer driving by continuously developing technologies for a more intelligent and forward-thinking vehicle,” said Mike Mansuetti, president, Robert Bosch LLC. “We predict fully automated driving beyond 2020; however, this event will allow people to experience close up the technologies that mark the first steps on this way and will be available in the near future.”

In support of the many benefits of automated driving, Bosch promotes the opportunity for CES attendees to see and interact with the future of automotive technology. The Driverless Car Experience was scheduled to take place in the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Gold Plaza, located outside of North Hall, where companies will present a range of technologies, explain how they work and discuss significant advantages, such as enhanced traffic flow, reduced travel times and improved fuel economy.

During the event, Bosch technologies applied to two demonstration vehicles include: automated parking and pedestrian protection, based on a stereo video camera, which is being shown for the first time in the U.S.

The Driverless Car Experience also will feature a panel session, “Road to Driverless Mobility,” on Jan. 7, at 3 p.m. in the LVCC, North Hall, Room N262. Bosch’s Dirk Hoheisel, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, will join the session’s panel for a discussion exploring the market, technological and regulatory milestones on the pursuit to making driverless mobility a reality.

In addition to sponsoring the Driverless Car Experience, Bosch will highlight two interactive tables at its exhibit, Booth #20812 in LVCC South Hall One, where users will have the opportunity to see how each driver assistance technology works – intelligent headlight control, integrated cruise assist, traffic jam assist, automatic park assist, pedestrian protection and more.

The booth also will feature home, mobility and future technologies, including security, energy storage, eBike drive system, home telehealth, automated driving and connected vehicle solutions among others.

The 2014 International CES will feature more than 3,200 exhibitors unveiling the latest consumer technology, products and services across 15 product categories.
