Dave Kindig to have major role with AkzoNobel at SEMA Show

AkzoNobel announced its programming for the 2022 SEMA Show, and Dave Kindig, television star of Motortrend Network’s Bitchin’ Rides show and creator of custom car company, Kindig-it Design, will once again play a major role. SEMA takes place from Nov. 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

AkzoNobel will have a booth inside Central Hall, dedicated to Sikkens and its patented, state-of-the-art, digital body shop workflow control solution Carbeat (booth #20060). AkzoNobel service consultants will be on hand to meet with customers and provide carbeat demonstrations each day of the show.

Outside Central Hall in the silver lot, AkzoNobel has two rig spots showcasing 4,800 sq. ft. of exhibit space (#81080 and #81090). Kindig will conduct autograph sessions twice per day throughout the week at the rig, displaying five one-of-a-kind vehicles. A sixth car, a 1940 Ford owned by one of AkzoNobel’s account reps and painted with AkzoNobel’s Sikkens refinish paint, will also be on display. AkzoNobel will also have its paints featured on show cars throughout the event, and company representatives will share their expertise at the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) Repairer Driven Education (RDE) session and panel discussion.

“The SEMA Show is a special time for us, and we’re excited to be exhibiting and contributing in many ways again this year,” says John Eubanks, regional marketing manager, Americas, AkzoNobel Automotive & Specialty Coatings. “Our relationship with Dave Kindig continues to grow and provide a real spark for us; and SEMA provides the best opportunity for us to showcase how he uses our paints to help create his masterpieces.”

Kindig partnership

In addition to daily autograph sessions with Kindig, the AkzoNobel outdoor exhibit will be home to five of Kindig’s vintage masterpieces: A 1969 Camaro, a 1971 Nova, and three of Kindig’s 1953 Chevy Corvette CF1 Roadsters, one of which is an electric vehicle. Each of these cars feature Modern Classikk paints, which are the result of Kindig’s partnership with AkzoNobel. The full line of Modern Classikk custom finishes now includes over 40 basecoat colors and four reducers.

Additional displays

SEMA attendees will also see the company’s paints on both new and vintage vehicles throughout the show, including:

  • 1972 De Tomaso Pantera (booth 22765) - Painted with new Modern Classikk color, “Migreene”.
  • 1953 Kindig CF1 Chevy Corvette Convertible (booth 22593) - Painted with a new Modern Classikk color.
  • 1987 Grand Wagoneer - Painted with Wanda.
