Delphi and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America gifted $20,000 to the Wildcat Guardian Association — volunteers working to conserve Wildcat Creek in northern Indiana.

Created in 1990, the Wildcat volunteers focus on preserving and improve the creek and its watershed, which spans seven counties North Central Indiana.
The funds will be allocated to several projects: the creation of a public access site near the Continental Steel dam that will open the area to canoeing, fishing and nature watching; organization of future trash and debris clean-up activities; support of the annual Celebrate the Wildcat event; and development of an educational video about Wildcat Creek to be used in local schools.

"Delphi is very pleased to team with Toyota to make this gift to a volunteer organization that is committed to improving the environment in our city and state," said Jeff Owens, president of Delphi Electronics & Safety. "We certainly recognize and appreciate the time and sacrifice that the Wildcat Guardians dedicate to helping to protect the Wildcat creek and its watershed. We commend them and hope that they continue their work."

Delphi supplies engine control modules to Toyota, which runs a Community Connection program that supports non-profit organizations in the areas were the company does business.   The Wildcat Guardian donation marks the second time Delphi has partnered on a Community Connection event with Toyota. In its ninth year, the program has donated more than $1.5M at 64 events in 21 states.
