LKQ Corporation has donated $9,000 in product to nine collision programs through the Collision Repair Education Foundation.
The schools selected were applicants to the Education Foundation’s 2010 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant. Each school was able to select $1,000 in LKQ products for their school’s collision program.
In addition, LKQ also donated $6,000 to support the Education Foundation’s Collision Repair Education Campaign general scholarship/grant fund and is participating as a sponsor of the Education Foundation’s 2011 golf fundraiser being held this summer in Salt Lake City. The selected schools that will benefit from LKQ’s donation include:
"The Collision Repair Education Foundation is a valuable organization and we are pleased to support future industry technicians,” said Terry Fortner, Vice President of Industry Relations and Market Development. “With all the advances in materials, technology and procedures, it is important that schools have access to the latest techniques and products to teach how to safely repair vehicles. The training efforts of these schools are recognized and appreciated by LKQ Corporation.”
Scott Kruger, Executive Director of the Collision Repair Education Foundation stated, “LKQ’s support will not only fund our activities investing in collision repair school programs nationwide, it will also put their products that are used by industry professionals everyday into the hands of students learning the trade. Through these schools completing the 2010 Makeover grant application, we were able to identify their collision program’s equipment need. On behalf of the staff, Board of Trustees, and the schools receiving the donation, we would like to thank LKQ for their continued support of the industry’s future.”
“We would like to thank LKQ for their support of our collision program. We will be getting parts for students to practice on and we are going to set up front ends on a stand and use them for paint training,” said Joe Indomenico, collision instructor at one of the recipient schools, Lake Technical Center.
