Two Sioux Falls, S.D., shops were burglarized within a few days of each other. The thieves walked away with everything from hand tools to scan tools and computers, says burglary victim Chris Rieger, owner of Chris' Auto Repair.
"When I walked in, I was crushed," Rieger said. "(They took) pretty much everything I have to make a living."
Perfection Automotive, owned by Mike Kramer, was also "cleaned out." "They basically emptied out my personal toolbox," he said.
Both Rieger and Kramer reported that between $30,000 and $40,000 worth of equipment had been taken from each of their shops. Neither have ever had a break-in before.
Suspect descriptions have not been released in either case. In Rieger's case, two sets of tracks were found outside Chris' Auto Repair the morning after the shop was burglarized. The security camera had been ripped off the wall, and the garage door broken.
Along with filing police reports, both Rieger and Kramer are offering rewards of $2,000 apiece for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. Kramer, according to the original story, is worried other businesses may be next.
