PGT Trucking Inc., a national flatbed carrier based in Pennsylvania, has signed a letter of intent to complete an asset purchase of Kelworth Trucking Company of Poteau.
Details of the deal have not been released, although PGT expects to complete the deal by early May.
Kelworth Trucking, also a flatbed carrier, operates throughout the continental United States and Canada. The company has been in business for over 25 years and operates about 100 trucks. The current headquarters is located close to the Interstate 40 corridor in Oklahoma just south of Fort Smith.
Scotty Jones is president of Kelworth and his son Jeff Jones is vice president. Both will join PGT as a part of its management team, a news release states.
"The addition of Kelworth is strategic in several ways," Gregg Troian, president of PGT, said in the release. "Most importantly though are the drivers and the facility location. These two important aspects of the acquisition provide strength to PGT by adding to our proud professional driver base and filling a void in the operating network."
Kelworth Trucking is the second acquisition for PGT Trucking over the past 10 months. PGT acquired Liedtka Trucking of Trenton, N.J., in August 2013.
PGT Trucking operates in excess of 1,000 tractors and over 1,500 trailers. It is headquartered in Monaca, Pa.
