The Women’s Industry Network (WIN®) announced a location change today for the WIN 2015 Educational Conference, “Connect to Cultivate,” May 4-6, 2015.  The conference will now take place at The Omni Shoreham, Washington, DC.  The conference was originally scheduled to be held at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Md. The new location is approximately 40 miles away from the original location.

Riots broke out in Baltimore Monday, April 27, following the funeral of Freddie Gray, 25, a black man who died in police custody of a spinal injury. The National Guard and additional officers from around the area have been called in to patrol the city.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake implemented a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew as rioters burned buildings and cars, looted businesses and even attacked bystanders.

The new location of the WIN Conference is The Omni Shoreham, 39 miles away from the Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport. This will hopefully minimize the impact on travel reservations. "The safety of our membership was paramount in our decision," said Denise Caspersen, Chair of WIN Board of Directors, when asked about the change of venue.  “The quick actions from the Conference and Communications committee resulted in our relocation to a new venue in such a short amount of time.”

Updates will be sent to all registered conference attendees through internal communications as well as the WIN social media sites of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
