Maruti-Suzuki awards large spot welder contract

CompuSpot®, the inverter spot welder brand manufactured in Quebec by AMH Canada Ltd, has been chosen by Maruti-Suzuki (MSIL) to full fill its requirements for the repair of High Strength Steel panels and assemblies.  The announcement was made by Mr. P Agrawal, MSIL Vice President for Network Development and Service.  With over 1,500 dealerships, Maruti-Suzuki is one of the leaders in the growing Indian automotive market. 

The extensive testing and evaluation process, which took place over a 3 year period under extreme Indian weather conditions, involved 10 well known spot welder competitors from Canada, the USA, Europe, Japan, and China.  Only 4 survived the first round of testing with the Canadian CompuSpot® winning out in the end.

One of the largest of its kind, the contract calls for the delivery of 1,150 inverter spot welders over 36 months.      

Maruti-Suzuki plans to open between 40 and 50 new dealerships every year for the next 10 years.  CompuSpot® will be distributed in India by Vinitec Automotive PVT Ltd.

AMH, which is also known for its UltraMig® synergic MIG line and its Spectratek® paint curing lamps, first introduced the CompuSpot® brand in 1995.  Sold worldwide, the brand won  large spot welder contracts in France in 2007 involving Peugeot, Renault, and Citroen.
