Cooper Tire continues push into fleet market with launch of PRO Series LHS steer tire

March 27, 2019
A year after the tire manufacturer announced its entry into the commercial vehicle OE and fleet market, Cooper tires adds to its tire line designed for long haul fleets.

Cooper Tires launched the Pro Series LHS tire is a long haul steer tire at the  2019 Technology & Maintenance Council's Annual Meeting & Expo. The Pro Series LHS is latest product available in its Pro Series line of Cooper brand truck and bus radial (TBR) tires, designed for long haul applications.

The tire offers 18/32nds of tread depth, and features a number of new technologies to cater to the long-haul segment:

  • Decoupling grooves to assist with even wear
  • Patent-pending stone ejector design built into the tread pattern to help prevent stones from puncturing the tire casing.
  • A wider tire base footprint for more impact on the road, and improved rolling resistance. “This provides better traction while promoting longer, more even wear,” said Schroeder. “And, it doesn’t sacrifice fuel economy in the process. When paired with our PRO Series LHD drive tire, that is also SmartWay verified, fleets can maximize fuel economy.
  • A built-in Wear Square tread depth visual design provides fleets a quick reference to verify the remaining tread life of the tire, and to confirm even wear.

In 2018, Cooper Tires introduced its new line of Cooper brand truck and bus radial (TBR) tires, developed for fleets to help reduce overall tire program costs. Three series of tires are available, dependent on application: Pro Series for long haul, Work Series for regional haul, pick-up and delivery, Severe Series for mixed service.

The Pro Series LHS steer tire is an addition to the company's Pro Series line of tires designed for long haul applications. The Pro Series LHD drive tire was introduced in last year. The company plans to launch the Pro Series LHT trailer tire in October.
