During the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW) last week, VehicleServicePros.com brought readers a first-hand look at what was happening at the show. Here's a recap of the top stories from last week's show coverage newsletters:

A hot topic over the last year, the use of counterfeit scan tools in shops can compromise the intellectual property and violate copyright laws. The seminar, held at AAPEX 2013, discussed the different types of counterfeit scan tools, how techs can spot a counterfeit tool, and the steps manufacturers are taking to combat the sale of counterfeit scan tools.
With the integrated Android-based operating system, the Encore scan tool has a boot-up time of less than 15 seconds. VehicleServicePros' Wrenchin' Roger got a live demonstration on the show floor.
More than 2,000 products were submitted for consideration.

This year, the company integrated its data into the ProDemand integrated diagnostic software to combine OEM and experience-based information.
