Beyond the basics, the course teaches critical problem-solving skills, including how to select optimal replacement bearings and analyze bearing damage.

The Timken Co. announced the launch of Timken Tech Series for Commercial Vehicles, an online training program for professional technicians and distributors. Available at www.timken.com/techseries, the training starts with tapered roller bearings. Courses covering lubricants, driveline center support bearings, seals and other topics will be added periodically.

"More than 10,000 technicians, distributors and students have earned certification through our online Timken Tech Series for Light Vehicles during the past eight years," said Greg Sturm, Timken aftermarket product manager. "Now, we are introducing similar high-caliber training for the commercial-vehicle industry."

Focused on practical applications, this multi-media program features easy-to-understand online information supplemented with videos, illustrations and Timken TechTip bulletins to help industry professionals gain the skills needed to move ahead in their careers. Beyond the basics, the course teaches critical problem-solving skills, including how to select optimal replacement bearings and analyze bearing damage. At the end of each section, the professional may take an online test to earn certification in that subject. Timken recognizes this achievement by awarding certificates and patches to those who earn passing scores on the section tests.

The Timken Tech Series programs for light and commercial vehicles demonstrate The Timken Co.’s commitment to quality technical training. The company offers a range of online, onsite and classroom training programs to help professionals select, recommend and use the company’s products for optimal fuel efficiency, reliability and safety. In 2013, Timken held nearly 500 wheel end training events for approximately 5,000 fleet technicians, distributors and dealers.
