In Focus: The Autologic diagnostic system

Sept. 3, 2013
Autologic provides European specialists a true OEM-capable scan tool.

The Autologic Diagnostic System is designed to replicate the functionality (including coding and programming) of OEM tools used by automotive manufacturers. This system offers complete diagnostics for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo, Porsche, Rolls Royce, PSA/Renault and VW/Audi. Information is displayed on a large touch-sensitive screen through a simple menu structure, supported by extensive help screens. Autologic software packages are available independently or as multiple packages run on the same Autologic hardware base unit.

Selling points

  • It is the strongest programming and coding tool for the European market, emulating the dealer scan tool, because many technicians attest to the Autologic meeting or exceeding factory scan tool capabilities.
  • The tool comes with the most in-depth tech support in the industry with trained master technicians in each car line, which help users do everything from diagnosis to adding custom software to a vehicle. Most software updates and customizations that cannot be attained instantly are addressed within 24 hours.
  • Autologic's touchscreen and simple layout make it extremely easy for anyone to learn and use, which is an advantage over convoluted factory equipment.
  • Autologic presents users the opportunity to avoid subletting diagnostic and reprogramming work, allowing shops to take in more jobs and increase their ROI.

Features and benefits

The Autologic is a fully loaded dealer-level factory tool that is capable of diagnosis, programming and coding all the control units a given vehicle has. As a tool dealer, it is important to emphasize that the Autologic provides your customers the ability to perform every single diagnostic function a factory scan tool can do on an European vehicle. Other aftermarket scan tools do not have the ability to reflash modules with updated software and perform as many OEM enhanced functions on European vehicles.

Application

European vehicles require frequent software updates and the coding of different modules when changing components, so a true dealer-level scan tool has to have much higher capability than a regular scan tool in this market. The Autologic is designed for European specialists that want a more economical option than the dealer scan tool, which allows them to update their scanning interface. To the contrary, factory scan tool interfaces are usually updated by the OEM every five years.

Origin

When Autologic Diagnostics was founded in 1998, the aim of the company was to provide OE-level diagnostic software capability combined with market-leading technical support from dealer trained master technicians.

The goal was to give independent garages a complete service that would out-perform all others in the market. Autologic has since established itself as a leader in vehicle diagnostics for 15 other European car brands and is globally renowned in the automotive aftermarket for the depth of it's software capability and technical support.

Manufacturing specs

The Autologic hardware is made in Cheshire, United Kingdom and shipped out to over 150 countries worldwide. The software for all 16 brands is developed in-house by Autologic's own team of over 50 specialist software engineers based in Oxfordshire, UK.

Storage and display

Each Autologic is supplied with a set of standard cables, plus any additional cables required for a particular vehicle brand. The Autologic hardware unit and cables are contained in a durable rugged flightcase for extra protection in the workshop environment.

Suggested retail price

The Autologic tool can hold up to eight European car lines for diagnostics, programming and coding. Pricing ranges from $ 9,350 to $59,400, depending on the software included. Individual software may be added at any time and all software packages come with one year of technical support and software updates. Financing as low as $400 a month is also available.

The price may seem high, but some European factory scan tools, plus their subscriptions, cost tens of thousands of dollars and the tools themselves become out of date after a few years. In this way, the Autologic offers substantial price savings for the serious European specialist.
