Fontaine Fifth Wheel has developed a new catalog that makes it easy for fleet managers to mix and match Navistar-compatible brackets and top plates to create the perfect fifth wheels for their needs.

Fontaine Fifth Wheel has developed a new catalog that makes it easy for fleet managers to mix and match Navistar-compatible brackets and top plates to create the perfect fifth wheels for their needs. Print and electronic versions of the catalog are available now from Fontaine and Fontaine Parts Connection dealers.

"We can now provide potential users with a single source of information for all our Navistar-compatible products," says Todd Kuipers, key account/marketing manager for Fontaine Fifth Wheel. "There are more than 150 different top plate and bracket assemblies available and each combination is represented in the catalog with detailed measurements to help ensure a seamless fit."

The new catalog groups assemblies into three categories for quick reference: standard-duty weight-saving, moderate-duty and severe-duty.

Standard-duty weight-saving assemblies are built for on-highway use and include Fontaine's No-Slack II NT top plate mounted to either the adjustable plate-mount bracket (APB) or the new lightweight outboard slide bracket (LWO). LWO applications are up to 50 lbs lighter than competitive outboard slide systems, giving users an edge in the pursuit of better fuel economy. The No-Slack II NT top plate features Fontaine's award-winning self-adjusting locking technology that reduces stress on the vehicle frame during accelerating and braking and extends the life of components.

For moderate-duty applications, Fontaine recommends its lightweight bracket (LWB), which comes with a greaseless liner to reduce maintenance costs, or adjustable plate mount bracket (PMA). Both can be fitted with Fontaine's No-Slack II 6000 top plate, which supports a 50,000-pound vertical load, or the No-Slack II 7000 and 7000CC, which can support 55,000 pounds.

When maximum strength is needed for off-highway applications like logging and chip hauling, Fontaine's stationary short plate mount (PS4) bracket can be fitted with a No-Slack H5092 top plate to support up to 62,500 pounds of vertical load.

In addition to outlining which combinations work best for each level of use, the catalog provides a helpful guide to Fontaine's fifth wheel part numbering system and shows how fifth wheels are measured to simplify the selection process. Additional resources, like Fontaine's complete assembly brochure, are accessible via convenient QR codes.
