Winterizing is key to vehicle longevity, driver comfort and safety, the company says. Fleets that incorporate Phillips and Temro Industries (PTI) cold weather starting products into their winterization program will keep their trucks running all winter long, regardless of how extreme the winter conditions, according to the company.

Thermostat Immersion Heater System

The Zerostart Thermostat Immersion Heater System includes an engine block heater, thermostat, series Y-cord and indicator light. The thermostat measures the coolant temperature and regulates the engine heater by cycling the heater on and off according to the temperature range setting of the thermostat. The system eliminates the need for pre-set timers and the dual LED indicator light provides visual confirmation of voltage and heater operation at a glance.

In-Line Warmer I-909BTEH-100

In-line fuel warming is a proven, cost effective method of providing protection against stall-outs and no starts due to fuel gelling. The I-909BTEH-100 has a 120V electric preheat that ensures warm fuel gets directly to the fuel filter at start up. After startup, heat is exchanged through a series of stainless steel tubes to provide efficient fuel warming. By positioning the unit close to the fuel filter, trucks have maximum fuel warming efficiency where the heat is needed most, therefore avoiding down time and repair costs due to fuel gelling issues.

Battery Heaters (Silicone, Blanket Style and Box Style)

These electric heating units apply heat directly to the battery for reliable cold-weather starting. They maintain available cold cranking amps in cold weather by warming the batteries with direct heat. There are three heating options - silicone pad, blanket and box heater – which can be installed in sub-zero temperatures.

Coolant Dam Pressure Tester

This two-in-one tool pulls a vacuum on the cooling system through the radiator cap allowing repairs to be done in less time without draining the coolant. The tool then quickly converts to a pressure tester after the repair has been completed. The Coolant Dam Pressure Tester by Arctic Fox can be used when changing heater hoses, sensors, fan & temperature sensors, cab heater cores, and heater control valves.

Idle Free Electric APU

Although idling can keep heavy duty truck engines warm, it uses far too much fuel to be economical and does not abide by most states’ anti-idling laws. Excessive idling also accelerates replacement schedules and quickens vehicle depreciation, which can cause problems for entire fleets, and driver comfort and retention.

Idle Free Systems APUs are CARB compliant and EPA SmartWay verified. They provide air conditioning and heat; 120-volt electricity for televisions, computers, and other hotel needs; and pre-heats the engine as well as heating the bunk area when the engine is off.
