VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 96 - Technology and Commercial Vehicle Service and Repair

Jan. 4, 2016
Brian Mulshine, director of operations technology and innovation at Rush Enterprises, talks about the increasing use of technology for commercial vehicle service and repair.

Over the past 10 years, the use of technology on commercial trucks has been steadily increasing.  Telematics, combined with remote diagnostics, is helping service providers understand what’s going wrong with a vehicle, and that helps reduce downtime.

I asked Brian Mulshine, director of operations technology and innovation for Rush Enterprises, about this.  Rush is a solutions provider to the commercial vehicle industry, and owns and operates the largest network of commercial vehicle dealerships in the U.S.

Seeing the potential benefits of incorporating technology into vehicle service and repair, Rush Enterprises recently formed its RushCare Technology Solutions group.

The company is also using technology to better organize daily shop activity and improve customer communications.

Having a single portal means greater efficiency.

Mulshine says the objective pf repair shops should be to continue to evolve the use of technology to further enhance the service experience.
