SERVICE-EDU launches advanced automotive repair training from four parts manufacturers

April 7, 2016
Gates, MAHLE, NGK Spark Plugs and Timken have joined forces to offer training on component and system failures and how technicians can properly diagnose and efficiently replace worn parts.

SERVICE-EDU is a new training program for professional automotive service and repair technicians from four premier OE automotive parts manufacturers: Gates, MAHLE, NGK Spark Plugs and Timken. Training will be held at regional Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus locations across the United States.

These brands have joined forces to offer training on component and system failures and how technicians can properly diagnose and efficiently replace worn parts. Collectively, these four companies supply the aftermarket with tens of thousands of SKUs, representing 25 different types of parts in nine product categories.

SERVICE-EDU is a joint effort so that more value could be provided to technicians by offering training in multiple product categories during a single training event. Each manufacturer’s training courses, focused on their unique category of expertise, include classroom and hands-on instruction on proper system troubleshooting, advanced service techniques and component replacement.

Every generation of new cars and trucks brings new levels of complexity to the auto repair industry. Staying on top of the latest technology requires continuing education for repair techs to be competitive. SERVICE-EDU is uniquely positioned to provide the advanced repair knowledge and skills today’s service technicians need. A better understanding of why failures occur and specialized knowledge about individual parts involved in those failures lead to greater efficiency in the service bay.

The four companies believe that relationships between manufacturers and service technicians help provide shop owners with peace of mind in knowing that their technicians are being trained by the very best trainers in the industry.

SERVICE-EDU is being produced by The Marx Group, a team of aftermarket experts that has more than 32 years of experience in developing marketing and other programs for suppliers.

SERVICE-EDU will kick off the first year of its two-day training programs April 29-30 at the UTI campus in Avondale, Arizona; May 13-14 at the UTI Dallas/Fort Worth campus in Irving, Texas; Sept. 16-17 at the UTI campus in Lisle, Illinois; and Oct. 21-22 at the NASCAR Technical Institute campus in Mooresville, North Carolina. A fifth event at the UTI campus in Rancho Cucamonga, California will be announced at a later time.
