In this video, filmed at SEMA in Las Vegas, Scott Brown, contributing technical editor for Motor Age, speaks with Keith Andreasen, tool product manager for Innova Electronics Corp., about their line of professional-level diagnostic tablets, primarily focusing on the SDS50 and 7111 tablets.
Brown mentioned a pain point for many technicians is getting monitors to complete. This is where Andreasen has some interesting features to reveal. As explained, OBD-II PID $41 provides information about whether the monitor is enabled during the drive cycle, which is crucial information to have while monitoring completion status.
Andreasen also reveals another interesting feature based upon Permanent DTCs which technicians servicing and inspecting vehicles in emission testing states will find beneficial as well.
