Akebono Brake Corp. has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Mike Bruening as district manager for the central region.

“The growth of our business is driving us to add talent,” says Ken Selinger, director, Akebono Aftermarket sales and marketing. “Mike strengthens our sales force with his decades of experience serving the biggest names in the automotive aftermarket parts industry. His knowledge and relationships will be an asset, not only for our existing accounts but also for growing incremental business.”

With more than 30 years of automotive sales experience, Bruening joins Akebono from XL Parts, an automotive aftermarket parts distributor where he served as a territory sales manager. While there, he consistently grew sales volume 30% to 40% each month and more than doubled daily sales volume within his assigned territory in a year.

Prior to XL Parts, Bruening spent nearly 12 years at Federal-Mogul Corp. in sales and product positions after 21 years at Cloyes Gear and Products. Bruening will report to Brian Horvath, regional manager for the central region.
