Vulcan Adhesive Debonding Unit (ADU)

March 30, 2017

The Chief Automotive Vulcan Adhesive Debonding Unit (ADU) is designed to separate the structural adhesives used to join aluminum, high-strength steel, carbon fiber and other “exotic materials” automotive OEMs are incorporating into their vehicle designs — without chiseling or grinding. The patent-pending Chief Vulcan ADU uses infrared radiation technology with tight temperature control to quickly heat the panel surface to a temperature where the first layer of glue underneath releases cleanly — in as little as 20 seconds. With the adhesive bonds broken, the technician can then separate the materials with less risk of damage to either piece, according to the company.
