Independent automotive repairers from around the country congregated on Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders and their staff.
The Automotive Service Association (ASA) hosted its 2011 “Taking the Hill” day in Washington, D.C., for its members this week.
Independent automotive repairers from around the country congregated on Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders and their staff. The day on Capitol Hill followed two days of association business meetings at the Gaylord National Hotel.
ASA members highlighted the need for Congress to do the following:
Provide incentives for state periodic motor vehicle safety inspection programs as well as a national study on safety inspection programs.
Support the enforcement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s auto refinishing regulation.
Support independent repairers having input in the upcoming Federal Insurance Office’s report on insurance regulation.
Support vehicle disclosure legislation.
Oppose House Bill 1449, Right to Repair legislation.
Support funding for vocational education programs.
ASA briefed new congressional members and their staff on the importance of independent repairers to the U.S. economy and the unique needs of the automotive service and repair industry.
