Don’t wait for customers to come to you — bring your business to them by creating a custom mobile trailer with help from Custom Upfits.

With more than 200 mobile units on the road, including in Alaska and Canada, Custom Upfits, based in Sacramento, Calif., allows repair shops to bring their business directly to the clients. And whether you have an existing shop or are just starting out, a mobile business platform is an inexpensive and profitable solution, costing a fraction of what you would incur to build a new retail shop. This method also works to help widen a shop’s customer base and marketing reach, said Don Griffin, who runs IT, Marketing and Sales at Custom Upfits.

Griffin said he the Custom Upfits staff attend SEMA every year, but this marks their inaugural year as exhibitors. “We walk it every year, and this year we decided to go all out,” he said.

Their booths will feature a 16-foot trailer, a Ford Transit Wheel Repair Van, a Ford Transit Tire Service Van and bolt-in-wheel repair equipment, which will showcase some of the options available for those interested in mobile units. Attendees can visit their exhibits, both at Booth # 61019 outside next to the Ford Out Front display, and at Booth #15706 inside the Westgate.

Custom Upfits has also partnered with BASF and Chip Foose, who will be completing painting demonstrations throughout SEMA in the 16-foot trailer, which features two wheel prep/paint stations, a tire changer, balancer and rim straightener. Outside the trailer is a 15x12’ automatic retractable awning, which creates an area that can be enclosed by NFPA 701 fire-rated curtains and drafted by a 20” explosion-proof fan, providing 77 air changes per hour.

Griffin said the process of creating a customized trailer involves a partnership with clients to ensure Custom Upfits understands their needs and can make a solution that works. “Our most valued customer is the independent shop owner who just needs to be able to do on-site repairs, whether it’s for bumpers or rims. They are more apt to share our company with others through word of mouth,” he said.

Those interested in a custom mobile trailer can visit Custom Upfits at SEMA, Booth # 61019 outside next to the Ford Out Front display, or at Booth #15706 inside the Westgate. You can also contact the company at (916) 240-8512 or [email protected].
