NABC opens nominations for 2014 Industry Recognition Awards

March 11, 2014
The National Auto Body Council (NABC) is now accepting nominations for its two prestigious industry awards, the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award.
The National Auto Body Council (NABC) is now accepting nominations for its two prestigious industry awards, the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award. NABC’s awards program recognizes individuals and collision industry facilities that have made a beneficial impact on their communities.  The Award of Distinction celebrates individuals or groups from the industry that selflessly contribute to the world around them. The Body Shop Image Award calls attention to the beneficial impact an attractive, well-designed facility can have on its surrounding community. As part of its 2014 recognition program, the National Auto Body Council plans to call attention throughout the year to outstanding individuals and body shops whose extraordinary efforts make a positive impact in their communities and the collision industry. In addition to selecting overall Award of Distinction and Body Shop Image Award winners, the National Auto Body Council plans to recognize and share nominations throughout the year.   “Anytime someone in the industry does something worthy, we’d like to encourage folks to go the NABC website and fill out a nomination form for either award,” explained Kent Seavey, NABC Awards Program Chair. “The individuals and body shops that are recognized will be featured in our member newsletter and automatically become nominees for both the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award.”

Award of Distinction
The award has been given for bravery, philanthropy, charity and selfless acts of kindness. It transcends the rigors of daily business to uncover those helping the world around them without a thought of recognition for themselves. Any individual, business organization, or group employed in a collision industry-related segment, such as collision repair facility, vehicle manufacturer, supplier/vendor, educator, insurer, independent appraiser or trade association is eligible to be nominated.

Body Shop Image Award
Winners will be selected by an NABC Award Committee based on the most significant improvements made to the shops' interior and exterior.  Any body shop completing a remodeling during the calendar year 2014 is eligible to be nominated. One winner and three runners-ups will be recognized.

“Body shops across the country continue to remodel their buildings and surrounding environments to make them more pleasing to the eye and, as such, are an asset to the neighborhoods in which they are located,” said Seavey.  “The National Auto Body Council feels this award has become one of the more important awards to draw attention to the striking, modern and often beautiful designs that have become a part of today’s collision repair industry.  We want to bring the cause to every shop across the country.”

Winners of both the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop image Award will be announced at the CIC Conference during the SEMA Show in November in Las Vegas. Each finalist will also be featured and recognized on the NABC website and in other publicity efforts.

“The collision repair industry is a dynamic profession that continually adapts to best address the challenges facing it,” added Chuck Sulkala, NABC Executive Director.  “As our industry moves forward, it makes great sense to have awards promoting it.  The Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award serve to shine a bright light on the best the industry has to offer.”
