First Brands Group Launches Sale Process for Major Aftermarket Portfolio

First Brands Group, a leading global supplier of aftermarket automotive parts, announced the launch of a sale process to market and sell its business as a whole or in parts. The company, operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, aims to accelerate its emergence and transition to new ownership while maximizing stakeholder value.

The portfolio spans mission-critical automotive products, including brakes, filters, plugs, wipers, pumps, lighting, towing, and accessories. First Brands operates market-leading brands, including FRAM, Raybestos, Trico, Autolite, and Reese, each with established customer relationships across retail and commercial channels.

The company is simultaneously in discussions with an Ad Hoc Group of lenders regarding an agreement to provide additional debtor-in-possession financing and serve as stalking horse bidder for certain business segments. The DIP funding would enable First Brands to maintain supply and service continuity for customers across core brands and product lines during the sale process.

Charles Moore, interim chief executive officer, stated: "Launching the marketing process represents a decisive step toward positioning our brands for long-term stability under new ownership. With the continued support of our lenders and meaningful inbound interest, this process will enable us to efficiently explore a range of strategic outcomes while prioritizing our customers, vendors, and employees."

First Brands anticipates filing a motion seeking authorization to conduct the sale process under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2026, subject to court approval. The company operates a strategic global manufacturing and distribution footprint serving the $410 billion North American automotive aftermarket sector.
