Star EnviroTech’s double-door capless fuel neck adapter, which provides an OEM-quality fit for all new Ford and GM double-door capless fuel necks, was recently awarded U.S. Patent No. 8,998,170 B2. The adapter will also fit other automaker’s double door capless fuel systems currently in development.

Automakers are increasingly using ‘capless’ fuel systems. In a capless system, the vehicle’s fuel door creates the tank’s filler neck seal. Together with the decrease in EVAP service ports on newer vehicles, this becomes a testing problem for service technicians checking fuel systems for Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System leaks and/or related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Star's capless adapter solves the problem by creating a secure seal for testing. Unlike capped fuel tank adapters that attach outside the fuel neck, it slips through the double doors and securely seals with a twist. It works with virtually any leak detection device to perform EVAP system tests, especially pressure/vacuum decay and smoke leak testing. It integrates seamlessly with smoke machines featuring Star EnviroTech’s patented Diagnostic Smoke leak detection technologies.

Made of high-grade aluminum and other rugged, fuel-resistant substrates to ensure a long-working life, the capless fuel neck adapter is backed by an unconditional five-year warranty. It is winner of several prestigious automotive industry awards for its innovative ease-of-use and quality construction.
