ALI Lift Inspector Certification Program

March 21, 2014

Annual vehicle lift inspections performed by a qualified lift inspector protect technicians, shops and customer vehicles. They are also mandated by ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008, the national standard covering vehicle lift operation, inspection and maintenance. The Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) has launched the Lift Inspector Certification Program, the first in North America to educate and qualify lift inspectors. Individuals with at least one year of lift inspection experience may apply. Inspector candidates receive extensive training materials, including an examination handbook, training manual, Lifting It Right DVD package, all applicable ANSI standards, maintenance guidelines for lift components and more. They participate in workshops and must pass a written pre-course exam, final course exam and document practical experience in order to achieve certification. Those who pass the program exam are added to a searchable database at www.autolift.org/inspectors.php that makes it easy for lift users to find inspectors in their regions.
