Freewheel Locking Hubs

Accuride Corporation has made available freewheel locking hubs for Fabco Steerable Drive Axles. This new option allows severe service on-/-off-road vehicle customers to gain on-highway fuel economy improvements and reduced drive train wear and tear, says the company. Freewheel hubs significantly reduce drivetrain parasitic losses in on-highway conditions by stopping internal axle and transfer case components from spinning. Fabco is the only supplier with freewheel hub capability for 10,000- through 16,000-lb steerable drive axles for use in Class 6 through 8 all-wheel-drive vehicles. Additionally, retrofit kits are available for FSD Series and SDA-1200, SDA-1400 and SDA-1600 model axles. Installation is simple and no special tools are required.
