VIS-check brake and undercarriage inspections

May 8, 2009

With CSA 2010 coming into motion authorities are stepping up their enforcement of out-of-service criteria under FMCSA 393.52(a). Owner-operators and fleets run the risk of having vehicles put out of service for violations and even having their safety ratings challenged by a DOT audit. Vehicle Inspection Systems (VIS) is promoting truck safety compliance with VIS-Check brake and undercarriage inspections. VIS-Check is a performance based brake tester (PBBT) with a road simulator. This system can assist in screening Class 6, 7, and 8 vehicles for brake force and stopping distance as well as checking vehicle weight, steering and suspension issues, shocks, U bolts, and many other repairs that may be missed in ordinary inspections. VIS-Check can help shops rapidly inspect vehicles faster than a simple visual inspection, find hidden damage and generate a defensible report to guard against OOS, fines and marks on driver records.
