3358 Ready Scan Readiness Monitor Tool

Feb. 26, 2008

OTC recently unveiled their new 3358 Ready Scan Readiness Monitor Tool to help provide you with faster, more cost-effective OBD II readiness testing. Additional features of the tool include:

  • A simple connection at the DLC/OBD II connector port.
  • An automatic auditory signal and green or red LED visual that indicates whether or not a vehicle's OBD II readiness monitors have been reset during the drive cycle.
  • CAN-compliant.
  • Update capabilities for configuring to state-specific readiness criteria.
  • A more compact size.
  • Self-powered and shuts itself off when the vehicle is not running. According to OTC, about 10 percent of vehicles will fail a state-required OBD II inspection. These failures require repairs, and once these repairs are complete a technician must perform a drive cycle test and wait for the monitors to reset. The company feels this tool provides a way for nearly anyone to see when this is has been done, without requiring a dedicated scan tool or pulling a technician way from the shop to perform the road test.
