According to OTC, their new Pitman Arm Puller Tool® can cut service times from as much as 3-1/2 hours to 40 minutes. Designed for use on 4WD pickups and SUVs where conventional pullers may not fit, this new model eliminates the need to remove the steering gear. The technician starts by loosening the steering gear and installing the puller, where a compact forcing screw with a live center on the inside, and cutouts on one side of the tool, allow for a wrenching action. OTC identifies specific time-saving applications as 4WD versions of 1988 and newer GM 1/2, + and one-ton trucks and SUV's, 1992 and newer GM Suburbans, and 1997 and newer Ford F-150's, Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators.
