IR Nitrogen Tire Filling System

Feb. 26, 2008

Ingersoll-Rand introduces their Nitrogen Tire Filling System. The company cites the following advantages for using nitrogen over oxygen:

  • Nitrogen leaks through a tire's rubber walls 3 times more slowly than oxygen, so tires stay inflated longer and grip the road better. Additionally, improper tire inflation can compromise the tire's load capacity, and decrease fuel efficiency. This can also result in heat build-up, and blowouts.
  • The system can be connected to the existing compressed air supply.
  • 3 different units are available, including a fully-packaged configuration that includes a tank-mounted integrated system to help minimize floor space.
