TruStar Energy, a national leader in design and construction of turn-key Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling infrastructure, in conjunction with Energy Systems Group (ESG), is excited to announce the contract award to design and build a large transit fast-fill CNG fuel station for Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation, aka CityBus.
Located in Lafayette, Ind., CityBus provides safe, reliable, and convenient transit service to local residents and Purdue University students. CityBus pursues sustainable operational practices that include hybrid diesel-electric buses and power-generating wind turbines. The emergence of CNG as an alternative fuel combined with new natural gas engine technology has resulted in the opportunity to take advantage of considerable fuel and vehicle acquisition cost savings for CityBus.
CityBus, partnered with ESG's Indianapolis-based team to design and build a CNG fueling station at their Lafayette, Ind., operations center. ESG is a leading energy services provider for government, education, healthcare, commercial and industrial entities. ESG brings extensive expertise in providing a wide range of energy solutions, working closely with utilities and other partners to design and develop energy infrastructure solutions that promote local economic growth, sustainability, and environmental conservation. ESG and TruStar Energy are working together on CNG station projects.
"CityBus will initially purchase eleven new CNG buses. Six are forty-foot standards and an additional five smaller CNG transit buses will be added via an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) grant. Buses will be replaced on an annual basis to gradually convert the 73 bus fleet," said Mark Falahee, ESG business development manager.

CityBus' fast-fill CNG fuel station will begin construction this year and the station will be operating by March 2015.
