The fuel-efficient Kenworth T680 has now surpassed the 10,000 order milestone since entering full production 15 months ago.

"This has been one of the fastest Kenworth models to achieve the 10,000 truck order milestone in Kenworth's 90-year history," said Gary Moore, Kenworth general manager and PACCAR vice president. "It's a testament to the growing adoption of the Kenworth T680 by a wide range of customers operating in a variety of applications."

Kenworth has received orders for the T680 from major fleets to owner-operators. The Kenworth T680 is designed to maximize performance in line haul, pickup and delivery, and regional hauling operations. Kenworth initially offered the T680 in day cab or 76" sleeper configurations.

Kenworth T680 orders are expected to benefit from the recent addition of the Kenworth T680 52" mid-roof sleeper, which is now in production. This option is well-suited for regional hauling applications – including tank, bulk, flatbed, heavy haul and lowboy – where owners are looking for reduced weight to increase payload and where drivers may spend just two or three nights on the road during a typical week.

The T680 is standard with the PACCAR MX-13 engine rated up to 500 hp and 1,850 lb-ft of torque. The PACCAR MX-13 offers excellent fuel efficiency, high reliability and durability, lightweight design, and low cost of ownership. The engine is assembled at the state-of-the-art PACCAR Engine plant in Columbus, Miss.

Earlier this year, the T680 with the PACCAR MX-13 engine was named the 2013 Heavy Duty Commercial Truck of the Year by the American Truck Dealers (ATD). The T680 has earned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay designation and is the most aerodynamic truck in Kenworth's 90-year history.

The tour also includes the new T880 vocational truck. The T880 features a panoramic windshield for enhanced visibility, quiet cab with triple-sealed and robust doors, 5-piece Metton hood for easier and faster repairs, air-assisted hydraulic clutch, complex reflector headlamps, excellent maneuverability, and new lightweight, factory-installed lift axles.
