Emergency Roadside Service – At your fingertips

You're a truck driver whose rig has experienced a tire-related issue and is stuck on the side of the highway. You need to get back on the road quickly.

Imagine having the ability to instantly connect with Goodyear FleetHQ, which offers the commercial trucking industry's premier emergency roadside service, simply by touching the screen of your Android or iPhone. The new Goodyear RoadService App makes this possible.

The Goodyear RoadService App, whose unveiling coincides with this week's Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas, can be downloaded to Androids from Google's Play Store and to iPhones from Apple's App Store, at no charge.

"Our new app expedites the emergency road service call process in order to help get trucks up and running again quickly," said Jose Martinez, business and digital solutions manager, Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems.

"With a touch of the screen, a driver will be placed in contact with the 24/7 Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center, where trained tire professionals will collect vital information, including the location of the driver's immobilized truck."

Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center professionals will then locate the nearest Goodyear commercial tire dealership and dispatch a tire service technician with the right tire and adequate equipment to the truck's location. The technician will assess the truck's tire condition "and render the appropriate tire service," according to Martinez.

Goodyear-FleetHQ provides the fastest roll-time in the commercial trucking industry: an average of just two hours and 11 minutes from the moment that a truck driver contacts the 24/7 Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center to the moment his or her truck returns to service.

"And the vast size and scope of Goodyear's service network – more than 2,200 locations across North America – help ensure that a servicing dealer is never too far away from a truck driver who needs help."

The Goodyear RoadService App also contains a "My Information" feature that allows drivers, when appropriate, to enter vital information like tractor and trailer unit numbers and other data before they contact the Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center.

"Ensuring that this important info is 'ready to go' ahead of time expedites the road service process even more," noted Martinez.

The app also lets users search for nearby Goodyear commercial truck tire dealerships and provides information about the products, services and hours of operation that these dealerships offer.

"Unlike other trucking apps, the Goodyear RoadService App focuses exclusively on connecting truck drivers with the help they need to get their trucks back on the road quickly and efficiently," explained Martinez. "Goodyear-FleetHQ offers the best road service program in the industry, and we want to make it as easy as possible for truck drivers to access it."

The Goodyear RoadService App, and all of the business solutions offered through the Goodyear-FleetHQ program, are components of Goodyear's Total Package Solution of industry-leading products, best-in-class services, and powerful profitability tools. Other solutions offered through Goodyear-FleetHQ include:

  • Tire Trac, a dynamic online tool that monitors a fleet's service history, as well as the performance of individual tires – collecting, documenting and creating key data.
  • The Goodyear-FleetHQ Dashboard, which presents information about tire, retread and service performance, plus purchase information.
  • The Goodyear-FleetHQ Trailer-Readiness Program, which helps fleets avoid expensive CSA (Compliance Safety Accountability) penalties by helping ensure that their trailer lights, wheel seals and other components are in top working order.
  • National pricing and consolidated billing. "Fleets and owner-operators negotiate a set price with their local Goodyear commercial tire dealer," said Martinez. "This way, there are no unpleasant pricing 'surprises' while they are away from home at the time of replacement.

"If a truck isn't rolling, it isn't making money," he said. "In today's increasingly competitive transportation business, truck drivers simply cannot afford excessive downtime. When their trucks experience tire issues, they need fast, expert service. This makes the new Goodyear RoadService App a 'must have' for truck drivers."
