Study: Interstate Batteries top choice among technicians

March 11, 2014
Frost & Sullivan survey ranks Dallas-based company the leader in battery category.

For the sixth consecutive year, United States automotive technicians voted Interstate Batteries the brand to beat, outperforming its competitors in brand preferences and future intentions. In an annual survey conducted by Frost & Sullivan, Interstate dominated the automotive battery category with one out of every two U.S. automotive technicians choosing Interstate Batteries as their preferred brand.

"While quality, reliability and brand reputation are the backbone of Interstate Batteries' success, our belief as a system is to build a company that recognizes consumers. It is an honor for Interstate Batteries to again be recognized for the superior battery products we provide to technicians across the country," said Scott Miller, Interstate Batteries president and CEO. "We are committed to providing these important decision-makers with batteries that perform reliably."

According to the Frost & Sullivan study, 94 percent of technicians whose shops primarily install Interstate Batteries' products rate Interstate Batteries as the top brand.  Impressively, 19 percent of those who do not primarily install Interstate Batteries select Interstate as the overall best.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents its Product Leadership Awards to companies that are outstanding within their industries – leading their industries based upon Frost & Sullivan's criteria of excellence. The recipient has distinguished itself through its proactive strategies that position it as an industry leader. The survey compares competitors in the automotive battery market on 14 specific points of evaluation, and Interstate Batteries leads in most of them.

"This survey suggests Interstate Batteries products are considered 'overall best' for two main reasons: longevity and an ability to hold a charge," said Frost & Sullivan senior analyst Joerg Dittmer. "On the basis of the review of United States automotive technicians' ratings of automotive batteries, Interstate Batteries emerged as the overwhelming leader."

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
