Stertil-Koni upgrades U.S.-based factory

July 23, 2013
Company has completed the next stage of a multi-phase capital investment program designed to enhance both productivity and efficiency at its U.S. manufacturing facility.

Stertil-Koni announced that it has completed the next stage of a multi-phase capital investment program designed to enhance both productivity and efficiency at its U.S. manufacturing facility, Stertil ALM, located in Streator, Ill.

In this most recent phase, Stertil ALM purchased and installed a new Okuma MILLAC Vertical Machining Center, which dramatically speeds the fabrication process while simultaneously increasing precision.  This in turn further streamlines the company's production of its broad range of heavy duty lifts, including mobile column lifts, platform lifts, the industry's first US patented, ultra-shallow, full-rise, in-ground scissor lifting system (ECOLIFT), and the recently introduced full-rise telescopic piston lift (DIAMOND LIFT).

In making the annoucement, Allan Pavlick, vice president of Stertil ALM, noted, "This investment gives us the ability to fabricate larger pieces on a single pallet, with a greater spectrum of capabilities, and machine multiple parts simultaneously. As a result, the quality of our finished product is enhanced, producitvity is doubled and our manufacturing time is reduced by as much as 75 percent.  Our goal is to keep the spindle operating for a greater percentage of the work day."

Added Dr. Jean DellAmore, president of Stertil-Koni, "As market demand for our lifting systems  continues to accelerate, our investment in cutting-edge technology and systems enables Stertil-Koni to continue delivering the very best in heavy duty vehicle lifts. This capital investment program is a major boon for both Stertil-Koni as well as our customers."

The news follows an announcement in April of this year, in which Stertil-Koni unveilved its new, world-class cutting machine that utilizes a combination of plasma and oxy-fuel torches coupled with a high-end PC-based touch screen controller for extremely quick, high precision manufacturing.
