New Chevin app allows fleet data gathering on the move

App works on any Android or mobile Windows smartphones and tablets.

FleetWave Mobile is designed to be used in conjunction with the company's well-established FleetWave fleet management system and will work on any Android or mobile Windows smartphones and tablets with an Apple iOS version also in development.

The FleetWave Mobile app will be adapted to the individual needs of each fleet and can gather almost any kind of fleet or operational information using manual input, bar codes, QR codes or pictures. Crucially, FleetWave Mobile does not have to be online to capture data – information can be stored and then uploaded whenever a connection is regained.

Senior vice president of North American Sales, Ron Katz, said: "Chevin's approach with the development of FleetWave Mobile is to make our enterprise fleet management information system as flexible as possible, allowing us to sit with each of our fleet users and help them maximize productivity, remove data input bottlenecks and eliminate error prone re-keying of information.

"FleetWave Mobile can be configured to work in almost any fleet situation. For example, a technician inspecting a piece of equipment or a vehicle for compliance can use an inspection form generated within the app, a driver of a delivery vehicle needing to capture a signature confirming a delivery has been made, or even a field worker that needs to record complex information regarding a service call can be managed using FleetWave Mobile.

"A major stumbling block for many of the fleets we work with is the collection of accurate odometer, fuel usage and business usage information can be easily captured and seamlessly sent back to the central FleetWave system."

Ron added that Chevin is often surprised by the endless volume of paper communication that still occurs in these kinds of scenarios.

He said: "We would probably go as far as to say that paper remains the fleet industry's most accepted method of communicating with field workers. Using FleetWave Mobile, many fleets will instantly gain more timely and accurate access to valid fleet operating data all while significantly reducing the costs associated with collecting this important data."
